YEET – [Yung Kayo] ft. [Yeat]

Young Stoner Life may be Young Thug’s very own imprint of his label at 300 Entertainment, but the talent pool that this label possesses is enough to take on the rest of the music world and probably even win. This roster’s strength is definitely not something to take lightly, and they only continue to level up as they release more music, and Yung Kayo is someone who I seriously believe will be a household name within the next year or two. His diversity is unmatched considering he can create enthusiastic party anthems as well as lowkey, chill, laid-back tracks that you can relax to just as easily as you could cruise around with the windows down on a beautiful day while bumping his tracks.

His adaptability is incredible, so that’s why I’m seriously so excited for his upcoming debut album DOWN FOR THE KOUNT, a project that features 15 songs as well as features from Gunna, Eartheater, and Yeat. Beyond this, there is even some production from hyperpop hitmakers like aldn and Umru, amongst other incredible producers, making this a project that I believe will be able to fully encompass all of the skills that Kayo truly possesses.

In order to get fans even more ready for the release of his album this Friday, Kayo teamed up with Moshpxt and JayJay Thakar to direct a music video for his latest song “YEET” which rightfully features the Portland-born star Yeat himself as well. In this song, which was produced by Warpstr, things kick off with rumbling synths, chattering hats, and absolutely thunderous drums that come together for a foundation that fits both of these emcees perfectly.

Energy is the name of the game in this one as Kayo begins with a beyond animated delivery that is full of entertaining personality and rapid-fire lines that only continue to grow with excitement as the track continues on. When Yeat comes in later, he starts with a bit of a chopped-up cadence before meeting Kayo in the middle with some equally enjoyable and spirited bars that are riddled with character and individuality. I was already super excited for DFTK to come out this Friday, but after hearing “YEET”, that day couldn’t come soon enough. At the same time, at least we have this insanely entertaining record to keep us company until then, so I can’t complain whatsoever.
