Yak Flow – [NLE Choppa]

If I’m being completely honest, I probably write about NLE Choppa’s music a little more than I typically listen to it in my free time, not because I don’t like it or because I don’t think he’s talented, because he is quite skilled 100%, but I mainly don’t tap in as much because he just releases so much damn music that it’s hard to keep track of.

Now, this isn’t a problem in the slightest, especially for die-hard fans, and I am honestly just super excited that he is finally bringing some more, well-deserved attention to the city of Memphis, because with artists ranging from Duke Deuce to Xavier Wulf and a whole mix of talents in between, it’s a city that deserves much more room in the spotlight.

What I do appreciate about NLE is the fact that he doesn’t need an album to drop new music, so that gives us an influx of random singles that are still high-enough quality to fit right in on a project, and that remains true with his latest song “Yak Flow”, produced by Palaze, Moneyevery, and Wasa.

If you’re already a fan of the young legend, you know that the number of flows he contains in his arsenal are truly countless, but this track truly stuck out to me because it has a familiar bounciness and upbeat drive, but it is also a lot calmer and more relaxed, allowing NLE to get as animated or as smooth with his lyrics as he pleases.

Not a single second of this record seems to lack anything in the equation of a rap hit, and the Self-directed video that comes along with it makes it even better thanks to a little help on behalf of ShotByJolo’s direction as well. At only 19 years old, it seems like NLE Choppa ages a day for every year that passes in real-time because of all the accomplishments he has achieved since taking the scene by storm just a few years ago, and even if I don’t necessarily always tune in, I certainly respect the hell out of him and root for him more than most other emcees in the game currently.
