White Lights – [Joseph Stingley]

Passion is inherent to great music. There’s a sense of emotional weight that arrives with any song or project built to last, and consequently, a sense of attachment in such music created between the artist and the listener. It’s a bond rooted in mutual understanding, and one that functions best when made with meaningful parts – sonically, lyrically, and otherwise. In the case of Joseph Stingley, an artist from Mission, Texas, he’s found all of these qualities and more in “White Lights.”

Structured around the heart-melting keys of a piano, “White Lights” follows a steady pace, relying just as much on impassioned lyrics as it does the space between lines. Stingley’s voice adds an incredible, deeper tone to the song, and as if the emotion in his vocals wasn’t enough, the release also arrives packaged with an astounding music video from director Ayodeji Ogunlana. From strategic zooms, in and out, to the striking visual identity of each shot, the video follows Stingley’s words with great precision, and the resulting yield is nearly 5 compelling minutes of music and video, carefully and heartfully pieced together in every sense of the words.

Voices and songwriters like Joseph Stingley don’t come around very often, and “White Lights” is one of the most exciting releases I’ve found in recent memory, especially given how early it is in Stingley’s career. Don’t just take my word for it, though – stream the song here and watch the music video below!
