Wgoimh – [Garrett Merk]

Music, in its purest form, is simply a reflection of the thoughts swirling around inside an artist’s head. Especially in today’s age of inauthenticity, whenever an artist pours their hearts out on the mic, it’s worthy of profound appreciation both from a listener’s and an artist’s standpoint, and here to bring this idea to life is Massachusetts-bred artist Garrett Merk — one of my personal favorites out of the state and a frequent flyer here at Lyrical Lemonade. Today, Merk hits our pages with a thoughtful new offering, “Wgoimh.”

Paired with a cinematic set of visuals during which he gets a lip tattoo, reflects in the comfort of a lake, and even shaves his long locks in exchange for a bald head, this video clearly displays Merk’s rejuvenated mindset. One scene after another, he translates the reflective pain of his lyrics into smoothly-cut scenes, and as a result, “Wgoimh” allows listeners to resonate with the way that Merk’s life has changed over the years, from drugs to his artistic identity, his car, his groupies, and more. For better or for worse, the budding talent realizes that things aren’t quite like they used to be, leading him into one of his smoothest, most personal, and most introspective offerings to date.

From here, I suppose the only road for Merk is some sort of change, and from an artistic standpoint, I’m sure he will oblige with some fantastic music in the near future. With that said, appreciate the sheer honesty displayed all throughout “Wgoimh” by streaming the song here and watching the video below!
