Admittedly, I wasn’t hip to Maryland rapper Matt McGhee until his recent performance of the energetic track “Sweat” in the COLORS studio. Thankfully, I stumbled across the video on YouTube just yesterday and I haven’t been able to stop watching it since. McGhee’s intricate flows and soulful delivery top off this track beautifully, as the infectious bassline and groove-filled feel of this song truly give it an identity as a potential hit that I will personally be keeping on repeat for the weeks to come. With both the lyrical talent and mic presence to entertain with ease, McGhee is most definitely on my radar as one of the DMV’s upcoming talents and I can’t wait for more from him in the future. It’s also important to note how important the COLORS platform has become. They feature a brilliant mix of artists both famous and more underground, and without these aesthetically-pleasing performances, I wouldn’t be hip to many promising young talents just like Matt McGhee. With that being said, check out the performance of “Sweat” below and let us know what you think in the comments.
