This new decade continues to see itself becoming more and more defined by a set number of rising sounds. The artists who have been or are beginning to come through with these exact nuanced stylistics are doing all they can to cement their place as pure purveyors of what is shaping up to be the next wave of popular music moving forward.
The most efficient and/or talented of these acts are exemplifying this notion by effectively introducing new sounds and styles to the table that break the mold as far as the genre they are looking to take over is concerned; in regards to pop music as it stands today, perhaps no one has accomplished this better than SEBii and the rest of his ever-so-talented camp of frequent collaborators.
He has yet again set the absolute highest bar possible for what is becoming the new sound of pop music as we move closer and closer to the future apex of this genre with his newest full-length project VVSS — a collaborative effort with one of his most trusted and equally-talented producers in Vvspipes.
The album spans 14 short offerings that clock in altogether at just over a half hours time, but not a single second of that runtime is wasted or the least bit boring or dull in the process. SEBii’s exuberant and wholly one-of-a-kind delivery is paired with the exceptionally bouncy and incredibly well put together production from Vvspipes for what can only be described as one of the most entertaining experiences of the entire year.
From the opening “BADABOOmmBADABINgg,” to the subdued yet still-energetic “JORDAnn,” all the way down to the conclusive and lyrically sentimental “NOww,” this projet certainly does its job in being an atypical offering from a characteristically creative spirit like SEBii, but it truly goes above and beyond in numerous ways due to the dynamic avenues it uses to be so entertaining in itself.
To bring together this wide variety of creative angles with a bevy of different tones applied to them, yet still having that same sense of merriment and pleasure to them is absolutely remarkable, and it is truly nothing new for both SEBii and Vvspipes to accomplish knowing their respective back catalogs. But they have truly went the extra mile with this project considering how, if anything else, it serves as yet another telling example of a tried and true benchmark moment for a scene on the cusp of history in the near future.
