Rapping over what many would call a “pain beat”, Eman raps and harmonizes about how the environment he grew up in caused him to become an individual who closes out and trusts very few. “Gotta keep a cold heart where I’m from” he raps during the chorus, as he continues to double down on exactly why he feels that way throughout the duration of the song. When speaking about the creation of “Unexpected”, Eman stated:
“My new record is centered around guarding my heart or as I like to say, “Keeping a chrome heart”, because of the environment that I grew up in. There’s a lot of fake love going around these days, so to avoid getting hurt, you can’t be too quick to let people close to you.”
