Toe Tags- [Pouya] & [Boobie Lootaveli]

Way back in January, Pouya and his close friend and collaborator Boobie Lootaveli joined forces for the first edition of their mixtape series, this one called Pouya & Boobie Lootaveli: Greatest Hits, Vol.1. Although the project was short and concise, it was absolutely full of bangers with not a single miss on the entire project.

The duo is back with a music video for the last song on the tape “Toe Tags”. With Spock being the main producer for the entire EP, he utilizes retro sounds, pitches Pouya’s voice down in the hook, as well as smooth, succinct kicks to bring this song to life. Boobie starts out as smooth as ever with an aggressive flow discussing a variety of things that I don’t quite understand in all honesty, but I was able to figure out that he mentions yellow diamonds on his neck and talks about his clothing as well. Pouya comes in right after in an even more aggressive fashion, discussing things like the gun in his backpack, the money he has made through his music, and the things he does with said revenue.

The aesthetic of the visual follows suit with the look they’ve had throughout the entire rollout of the project. It’s full of grainy shots that look as if they used an old-school camera to film. It takes place mostly inside a casino in Las Vegas with grand marble pillars and Grecian statues lining the hallways. Boobie spits his verse with gold grills in his mouth while smoking, not hiding the animated expressions on his face that come along with his words. Pouya’s demeanor is a lot more relaxed than his verse would suggest, as he spits brisk words with the impression on his face that it’s child’s play and he needs a real challenge. One of the more comical parts of this video that I appreciated was the fact that even being surrounded by such a grand setting like they were, the duo was decked out in hoodies and street clothing that didn’t match the interior of the building whatsoever. On the flip side, considering the designer brands they’re known to wear, it’s likely that these comfortable garments costed more than a suit or other outfit that would better fit the setting.

Although I’m a bit late to the party with the write-up on this new music video, it was too entertaining to forget about. The two just have a vibe together that is unreal, pairing catchy sounds with insistent tones in their flows that bring a new level to both of their individual musical styles. There’s no denying the chemistry this tag team shares after listening to their multiple volumes of greatest hits but seeing them actually reciting their lines in such an extravagant place for this video was really dope to see. Check out Pouya and Boobie Lootaveli’s latest music video for the culminating song on their project Pouya & Boobie Lootaveli: Greatest Hits, Vol. 1, “Toe Tags”.
