Things We Don’t Talk About – [DWLLRS]

The warming sound of DWLLRS returns with a new single, “Things We Don’t Talk About,” which is another inspiring and introspective ballad that proves why the San Clemente duo has been on such a hot streak. Highlighting the internal dialogue that can consume our minds during some of our lowest lows, DWLLRS live up to their vulnerable name as they delve into life’s toughest subjects, “money, death, love.” In true DWLLRS fashion, the song’s production balances out the weight of the song’s lyrics with driving instrumentation that mirrors the song’s subject matter with crashing cymbals and bright guitar chords. Together the culmination of this production and lyricism create another intimate example of why DWLLRS are bound for stardom. Their courage to be vulnerable and transparent not only creates a song that is sonically pleasing but emotionally weighted.

“We wrote this song after a period of feeling kind of lost in regards to what we truly want to say. ‘Things We Don’t Talk About’ is inspired by the dread that comes with holding things in. On the surface it’s easy to shy away from our insecurities and worries because it’s hard to be fully vulnerable all the time. But holding it in too long causes it to kind of eat away at our mental health and we know that. There is a freedom that comes with honest expression and that’s what this song touches on for us. It’s more than just another single release, for us, this song embodies a sentiment that reminds us to talk about the things that weigh heavy on our minds.”
