The First Step of Becoming God is a Bottle to the Face – [Pouya]

I know that every time I write about Pouya, which is quite often, I always mention that he’s an underground legend, but I feel like I can’t type a single word until this fact is out in the universe. The things he has done for up-and-coming artists are indescribable whether they realize it or not, and he isn’t even in his final form yet, so I don’t even have the slightest clue what going to happen when he gets there. At the same time, he has always been one to push the limits on what artists should or shouldn’t do, and this is obvious more than ever in his latest Julian Yuri Rodriguez-directed visual for his introspective song “The First Step of Becoming God is a Bottle to the Face”.

Opening up with a night vision view, he is wandering around the forest before being hit by a car. The driver gets out and throws him in the bed of the pick-up truck, taking him back to his home. Here, Pouya joins the family at a table for what looks to be a recreation of the last supper as family members wipe blood and dirt from his clearly injured face. Out of nowhere, a gentleman with a gun forces him to get up from the table, taking him outside and throwing him into the mud, leading to an all-out beat down for the Florida emcee.

Things get even crazier from there when they hand Pouya a cross, which he drags to a tent before being nailed to it and displayed, very much like Jesus, as a crowd looks at him and prays. I do have to say, this is a very powerful, intense, and almost sacrilegious visual depending on your beliefs, so I wouldn’t suggest watching it if you’re squeamish or easily offended. If not, then the music video for Pouya’s song “The First Step to Becoming God is a Bottle to the Face” is yet another creative, dense, and profound visual from the underground phenom that you should check out whenever you find some time.
