It is always such a refreshing and hopeful event when the next wave of modern music truly begins to set in more than it already has. This rare changing-of-the-guard experience, while gradual, is always a sight to see as it goes on, and the music that comes out of it is of course going to be outstanding in itself.
This type of event becomes especially clear when established producers and artists alike become more and more accustomed to what this new wave brings — a fact that has just been demonstrated by one of the most defining producers of the tail end of the 2010s in Fish Narc. His first collaboration with what is now being considered the next generation of pop moving forward is fittingly with two of the scene’s most iconic and staple acts in Blackwinterwells and osquinn, and the resulting product is nothing short of incredible.
These three linked up for the first time to create “STRENGTH BONUS,” a track that sees their individual talents all combining to create one of the absolute best singles to be heard thus far this year. Even beyond such a definitive statement such as that, this track represents a true statement piece for the unfathomably integral year to come for this scene in its entirety given how remarkable this collaboration turned out to be.
The track is mostly-dominated by the presence of Blackwinterwells herself, as she comes through with a gripping opening verse and following chorus as well as contributing to the bouncy and equally-infectious instrumental along with the aforementioned Fish Narc. Both of these elements combine to kick off the track in a forcefully grooving fashion — exactly what a track like this needed to get started.
Osquinn then enters the fray with an outstanding verse of her own; it is one that completely stands out on its own as it proceeds due to her enigmatic presence on the mic, but gets elevated to the extreme once a telling key change towards the end of this runtime. This switch is artfully performed and seamlessly transitions into a final efficacious hook that caps off the track in such a beautifully fitting fashion.
These three are all stars in their own rights when it comes to the music they make and the place they have in this grander music lexicon, but just as the next wave of pop values collaboration above most other outlooks, so too does that notion apply here. This is an unmistakably vivid representation of all things that make the online music landscape so exciting day in and day out, and the hope for more events like this is not one of worry whatsoever. These things will continue to occur as 2021 continues onward, and it is all because of such talented individuals as these three are.
