Down – Grown Adolescence & Supa Bwe
Grown Adolescence members Isaiah G and Aaron Deux are yet another couple of upcoming artists you should be keeping tabs on. Earlier this month, Supa Bwe jumped on their latest effort titled “Down,” and it was most definitely some of their best work to date. Over the smooth, jazzy drums, the Chicago-bred trio put together an amazing effort with Isaiah and Supa trading off with charismatic lyricism. I won’t spoil it for you though, make sure to check it out now streaming below.

Temptation – Joey Bada$$
While the month of April was absolutely stacked with new releases, Joey Bada$$ also let loose his sophomore album “All Amerikkan Bada$$,” which may just be his best work yet. In the groovy, uplifting track “Tempation,” Joey touches on discrimination, money and the corrupt government in the United States which was a re-occurring theme throughout each song on the 12-track effort. Each track from the album probably could have made this list, but “Temptation” was certainly one of them that stood out from the rest.

Underdog – Sunny Woodz ft. UG Vavy, Joseph Chilliams & Femdot
Rising Chicago artists Sunny Woodz, UG Vavy, Joseph Chilliams & Femdot linked up for an amazing track titled “Underdog” earlier this month, and there was no question it had to make our Top 10. Backed by smooth production from ZenZan, each artist took turns unleashing their ear-catching lyricism on their come-ups and starting out as underdogs in their early careers. Take my advice and get familiar with these guys right now, as they’ll certainly be making much more noise as the year goes on.

Help Myself – Knox Fortune
Chicago rapper/ producer Knox Fortune let loose one of the smoothest records of this month titled “Help Myself.” The self-produced track also saw co-production from Carter Lang including additional help from Cam O’Bi, Macie Stewart, and Colin Croom who cooked up the wavy, instrument-laced beat. Not only that, the astounding lyricism is just as smooth as Knox showed off his vocals with writing credits to Joey Purp, so you already know its an instant classic.

Imsuparaw 1.5 – Monster Mike
It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Chicago rapper Monster Mike, and earlier this month he decided to drop the second version to his “Imsuapraw” track with “Imsuparaw 1.5.” With production from Linus and Kishie, Monster Mike unleashed his masterful lyricism which he has delivered steadily over his career. Let’s hope he has more music in store for us this year, but let this one hold you down until that time comes.

Only Brother – Taylor Bennett
Chicago’s own Taylor Bennett has seen his fanbase grow exponentially after his latest project “Restoration of an American Idol” in Feburary. To celebrate his brother Chance’s birthday on April 16th, the 21-year old dropped a remix to his big bro’s Coloring Book album-hit “D.R.A.M Sings Special” simply titled “Only Brother.” In the track, Taylor reflected on life before his career and how Chance influenced his start in music. This has to be the most talented set of brothers in the music scene, and they’re only just getting started.

Magnolia – Playboi Carti
Arguably the most anticipated self-titled album of the year dropped earlier this month, and if you haven’t yet heard the standout song “Magnolia” on Playboi Carti’s album, you’re definitely in for a treat. The Pierre Bourne-produced joint has been bouncing around the internet ever since it’s release, and it’ll be sure to get you milly rockin’ as soon as you press play. Need I say more?

Same Shit – Warhol.ss
There aren’t many artists who are as consistent with their releases like Warhol.ss. His latest effort “Same Shit” wasn’t the only song he dropped this month, but the Blkyth-produced cut was easily one of the rawest joints he’s put out so far. The L.A.-based artist absolutely bodied the chiming, energy-laced beat that is sure to get you rocking to it in no time. Keep an eye out for the potential XXL Freshman this year, as he most definitely has more in the tank for us in 2017.

Whole Block – Yung Bans ft. Danny Towers
It’s barely been a month since Yung Bans was released from prison, and he’s already dropping off bangers. In his latest track “Whole Block” with Danny Towers, Bans showcased his turn-up style of rap with a bass-infused beat from Sammy Safari, who we can only hope links up with the Atlanta product for more hits in the future. Be sure to let this one rattle through your speakers right now, you’ll be glad you did.

Headlock – Cousin Stizz
Boston product Cousin Stizz has dropped no more than a couple of tracks in 2017, and his latest joint with Offset titled “Headlock” is undoubtedly one of his hottest to date, and maybe one of the hottest so far this year. As soon as I pressed play for the first time, I already knew it was going to be on my playlist for many days to come, which saw the lyrical duo trade off with astounding wordplay and energy. If I were you, I wouldn’t sleep on this any longer so be sure to peep it on SoundCloud right now streaming below.
