Soulja Boy is one of the central pioneers of the internet age. From his business approach to the music itself, Soulja set the stage for a lot of artists to exist today, and even beyond this influence, I must admit that there exists a considerable amount of Soulja Boy songs I’ll still get up for to this day. That said, in an unexpected yet unbelievable turn of events, one of my favorite artists, Jazz Ingram, is here today with a remix of one of Soulja Boy’s best songs, “Soulja Girl,” via Popstar FM.
Considering the gorgeous, synth-led production, “Soulja Girl” has always been a standout in Soulja Boy’s catalog, but needless to say, it makes perfect sense for an artist like Ingram to hop onto. The gently melodic background leaves just as much room for emotion as it does for braggadocio, and Ingram plays this line masterfully, constantly bouncing back and forth between the two as he reflects on the life around him and drops a handful of quotables in the process.
With this, “Soulja Girl (Remix)” may be a brief offering, but in all honesty, that only adds to the dance-inducing magic here. Jazz Ingram decided to take on a classic, and the result is a rare remix that I’ve had on repeat for the past 10 minutes to start my day.
