Perhaps music’s greatest ability is that of creating a moment. When a song is able to bring a myriad of listeners from all over the world into one, specific place and time, it becomes clear why music is such a special medium and furthermore, such a common ground in a world filled with division. Today, here to demonstrate just this is “Sonshine” — the latest single from Deaton Chris Anthony and UMI.
Admittedly, I’m a huge fan of UMI first, and I honestly wasn’t too familiar with Deaton Chris Anthony until now. Needless to say, however, my first introduction to the budding talent was more than impressive, as “Sonshine” turns a pocket of sunshine, a specific feeling, and some gorgeous instrumentation into an unbelievable song — and one that seems to exist entirely in a world of its own.
From the sheer dreaminess of the sound here to the way that “Sonshine” seems to slow time down almost to a stop, there couldn’t be a better song to sit back and truly escape from the pressures and stresses of the day. Anthony and UMI know just how to let listeners escape, and as a result, “Sonshine” is equally powerful in its ability to transport listeners into a specific emotional setting as it is in its ability to paint pictures.
That said, I could go on about this one all day, but to be honest, the music speaks for itself here. Each of these two artists are incredible in their own rights, but when they join forces, truly special moments like “Sonshine” are born.
