Skeebambino 4 – [Tbam]

With all of the talk lately about artists who blow up and find fame from social media apps like Tik Tok, it caused me to think back to the days where artists originally would get their music featured on Vine. Back in 2015, I used to watch vines from the Chicago comedian Nike Boi and the Maryland native Nilesyy Niles, and they would always use music from an artist who goes by the name of Tbam–and one song they would always use was the song  “Halfway“. Ever since then, I had been attached to his music and all of his releases and was in full support of him and his musical journey. Today, he’s making his official Lyrical Lemonade debut with his latest project Skeebambino 4.

One thing that always stood out to me was how versatile he was when it came to creating his music. I noticed that every single song he created, all had the same producer tag in it–turns out, the producer was him. Of course at the time, not many artists outside of a handful that were producing their own beats and rapping on it themselves, so it was amazing to see. Not only that, but his ability to create catchy chords in his beats as well. I got the chance to speak to him and asked him about the significance of producing his own beats and he had this to say:

“The importance of me making my own beats is so I don’t have to depend on anybody else . I’m able to be flexible with every song by placing drops, bridges, etc. anywhere I need them . I’m also able to put vocals on top of a beat and if I were to lose the vibe, I’ll make a completely new beat to fit the delivery of the vocals.”

Sure enough, Tbam continues the same sentiment today with his latest project that is full of trap anthems of the likes of an old school Gucci Mane on Zaytoven inspired production. A few of the standouts on this project include “Halfway Stretch” and “Classy”–both which showcase an interesting take and continuation on the trap genre that we have known to grow and love for many years.
