Known as the first lady of Griselda Records, Armani Caesar has released the first track off her debut GxFR project The Liz, which is set to drop on September 18th of this year. Produced by the iconic DJ Premier, the single “Simply Done” features Caesar’s fellow Griselda affiliate Benny the Butcher, and is accompanied by dntwatchtv visuals. While listening to the record, I immediately understood Caesar’s appeal, taking note of her confident tone, lyrical flare, and gritty rhyme-scheme. Moreover, despite Armani Caesar’s new member status, the chemistry displayed between her and Benny is effortless, as she sets the tone before passing the baton for the Butcher’s verse. It’s also clear that Caesar has immense versatility, considering she’s capable of dissecting a golden DJ Premier instrumental or a certified trap banger. The production on The Liz all but confirms the case in point, with listed credits from DJ Premier, 808Mafia, Camouflage Monk, JR Swiftz, Denny Laflare, Bone8, Animoss, and StinDrms. Of course, the only features needed on the project are Caesar’s Griselda teammates – Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, and Benny The Butcher.
