Last night, scrolling through Instagram right before I went to bed, I stumbled on a post from the gem-filled @sleepingongems Instagram only to find one of the smoothest releases I’ve heard in recent memory: “Show and Tell” by Lo Village. Of course, I rushed over to YouTube to watch the full thing, and ever since, I’ve had this song and video on repeat, feasting on all of its soulful, refreshing energy.
That said, thinking about what made me so attached after seeing that Instagram post, I’ve come to the conclusion that what the DMV-based group really brings to the table for me, at least, is a break. Rather than playing into the facade of social media or trying to incorporate some sort of shock value into their image, they simply make great music and let the art speak for itself. And sure, by no means are they the only group around who makes me feel this way, but still — they’re talented, their music is undeniably smooth, and as you can see with the music video for this one, they’ve clearly curated an aesthetic that works perfectly for the group’s talent.
Quite simply, Lo Village is building a foundation of great music that I can’t help but support, and I would recommend you do the same. Watch the video for “Show and Tell” below and let us know what you think in the comments!
