Seven Pt. III – [Awon] x [Seb Zilner] x [A N T I T H E S I S]

“When I first understood the concept of Seven Pt. III, I was drawn to writing in seven different styles to accommodate a narrative that reflected seven different thoughts. I drew inspiration from pain, regret, love, happiness and wit. I consciously always came back to the number seven when I could so I could maintain cohesion throughout the project. I divulged personal grief and challenges, allowing my vulnerability to shine. Seven Pt. III releases on Nov 4 – my cousin Kareem’s b’day. We were raised as brothers and he was truly my best friend. Kareem would be celebrating his 40th this year. I still can’t escape the pain of his untimely death. That grief seemed to follow me throughout my life losing so many pivotal and impactful people that helped to mold me into the man I am today. The adversity and obstacles I have faced has created an insatiable hunger for me to succeed. I just want to use my own time wisely to create a legacy that my children can be proud of. I sincerely hope I added to that legacy with Seven Pt. III…” –  Awon (Antwan Wiggins)

Newport, News Virginia emcee Awon returns to Lyrical Lemonade with a beautiful new album entitled Seven Pt. III. The LP is a collaborative project with Australian producer Seb Zilner and a label release through OUT.LI.ER Records –  a label and global publishing company in partnership with The Orchard and Sony Music Global Publishing. Seven Pt. III also contains original piano compositions from A N T I T H E S I S. With Zilner’s calming lo-fi and hip-hop production, Awon’s enlightening lyricism makes for a truly gratifying listen. Moreover, the album’s numerical symbolism draws listening intrigue, as it’s an unconventional thematic approach. Seven Pt. III‘s consistent focus of the themes surrounding the number seven relate to these principles: 7 chakras in the human body; 7 days of creation; 7 colors in the rainbow and 7 days of the week. Furthermore, the number 7 also symbolizes the unity of the four corners of the Earth with the Holy Trinity. Not to mention, the number features in the Book of Revelation (7 churches, 7 angels, 7 seals, 7 trumpets and 7 stars). In essence, the number seven holds significance in almost every major global religion, with strong spiritual significance commonly known. Of course, the LP also contains seven tracks, which provides refreshing brevity along with plenty of quality. Last but certainly not least, none of the subject-matter is irrelevant to the artist’s personal importance; it’s a powerful body of work with sentimentality, wisdom and poise. Listen to Seven Pt. III below!
