Self Sacrifice – [James Droll]

As humans, we all have that one achilles heel that can set us off on demand. Whether it be a memory, a sight, a smell, or any number of other things, this achilles heel yields an emotional reaction that can’t be ignored, just as James Droll has pinpointed with his confessional new single, “Self Sacrifice.”

In regards to instrumentation, “Self Sacrifice” remains relatively simplistic until the chorus steps in, but what this does is allow the fervent emotion at hand to gain momentum. Droll’s silky vocals skip right alongside the calmed strum of the guitar, and once the hook arrives, all of the song’s elements align, allowing the Nashville talent to belt out a heart-stricken chorus that plays equally on raw emotion as it does polished sonics.

With this, “Self Sacrifice” feels like an epiphany in some ways, as Droll finally determines what his emotional achilles heel truly is. He thoughtfully reflects in real time, and resulting is an honest, open recollection of self that I’m sure a widespread audience of listeners can, and will, resonate with upon first listen. Don’t just take my word for it, though — show some love to James Droll and check out “Self Sacrifice” below:
