Sanghyeok Lee, otherwise known as Sangstaa, is an American rapper and producer, known for his signature R&B/rap hybrid sound that delves deep into the artist’s psyche. Hailing from South Korea to Raleigh, North Carolina, Sang quickly fell in love with hip-hop. Growing up with a guitarist father and a pianist mother, the rising artist knew he was developing a passion for music. When he decided to pursue a career in music, ghghbrelocating to Los Angeles was the best move he could have ever made.
In a short period, Sang’s catalog has garnered the attention of several Spotify playlists and landed him on tour with Korean star G-Soul’s North American tour. On October 21, Sangstaa released his new EP You’re All I Know. This project marks a departure from his earlier R&B/rap fusion and goes into a more experimental nature. His inspiration for his EP was inspired by a recent heartbreak, and revolved around themes of internal battles, resisting temptations, and staying focused within a whirlwind of emotions.
“This project is different in all aspects. Sonically, It was my first time trying out indie pop/rock stuff so it was mad fun. Having instrumentalists like Luke White on the guitar and Trey Graves on the bass guitar, brought a super unique sound mixed in with my production,” he expressed. ”This is the most vulnerable project I’ve ever made due to the substance in the album. It’s about my 8-year relationship and the heartbreak I had. I feel like if you’re going through any type of heartache, this album might help you.”
This year, you can expect more vulnerability, raw emotions, and a whole lotta good music for Sangstaa. You’re All I Know is now available on all streaming platforms.
