Released just over a month ago, I’m, admittedly, a tad late to “Princess Goat” but I’m not going to let that stop me from putting it on the pages of Lyrical Lemonade and every summer playlist I make from now until the end of time.
On paper, Princess Goat reads like a hard, swagger-doused trap song thanks in part to the dense production from one of the hottest producers in the game, JWhiteDidIt. Inspired by the booming beat, Sonyae matches with some swagger-doused, in your face lyrics that would make Megan Thee Stallion nervous.
But that’s on paper…
In reality, “Princess Goat” has a lighter, angelic feel, thanks to Sonyae’s impressive vocal offering. The New Jersey Native has a much more ethereal, feathery style than you might expect, but even with a thunderous beat behind her, she never gets drowned out. In fact, with her presence, and the crisp delivery, she really jumps out while still maintaining that airy soul.
The two conflicting sounds really work well together with her confidence being the glue and the result is a uniquely flavored effort that absolutely knocks!
