Making a special return to our pages today, Atlanta artist Grip releases his brand new single titled “Mercy” accompanied by an incredible visual as seen below. Over the past few months, Grip has been causing problems as a rising artist who doesn’t miss when it comes to delivering captivating bars and certifiable flows. The video, shot by Rob Valentine and Shaun Matos, starts by creating a more serious atmosphere, yet ends with a fun, energetic appeal that allows fans to see both sides of Grip.
When I spoke to Grip about what exactly this song and video meant to him, he answered with a simple, “we had a solid idea and direction but still wanted to keep it lighthearted. We wanted to do a play on a classic Michael Myers but with a small twist.” Based on Grip’s consistency and eagerness for success, it seems as though he doesn’t plan on letting up or slowing down any time soon.
I spoke to Human Resources’ VP of A&R Austin Thomas as he made it very clear that Grip has some major plays and releases lined up for the remainder of this year. As Grip continues to grow and shed light on his abilities, don’t be surprised as his name continues to pop up in big places.
