Bubbling out of Houston, Texas, BBY Kodie grew his initial following on SoundCloud by translating bold sonic designs and outlandish samples into an entire catalog of high-octane music. His style was marked by its distinct sound and unbeatably confident lyricism, quickly engaging a cult-like following that has only grown more fervent ever since. Today, as Kodie continues to push forward with new releases, he’s taking this foundation and using it to further develop a thorough sense of artistry, from matured sonics all the way to eye-catching aesthetics and one-of-a-kind art direction.
Few releases could portray this growth better than Kodie’s latest, “Day 2 Day,” which begins with nearly a minute straight of instrumentation, slowly growing in momentum until Kodie clocks in with an unforgettable first verse to kick things off. Such mesmeric production lays the groundwork for his ever-confident stature to kick into gear, and while the song offers one of his most mature and compelling works to date, it’s the accompanying music video that really ties this one together.
Directed by Kodie himself alongside TravionKB, the “Day 2 Day” music video provides a night-set backdrop for the release to exist, bolted around aesthetically-pleasing shots and a luxurious Mercedes Benz to light the way. As “Day 2 Day” plays in the background, Kodie skillfully puts the charm of the music into physical form, delivering a music video that only pushes listeners further into his world.
“Day 2 Day” marks yet another strong step toward growth and longevity for Houston’s own, so don’t sleep. Check this one out at the link below:
