When it comes to hip-hop and rap music, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that most of the artists we might listen to really live the lives that they talk about. Whether that means the luxurious lifestyles of fast cars, expensive jewelry, and designer clothes, violence, drugs, and other activities, or a mixture of both, most of these emcees rap about these things because it’s what they have experience in, and I find it intriguing because they’re just simply not things that I personally know.
At the same time, it’s not uncommon to hear about some of these things catching up to these talents, as unfortunate as it is, so when we all heard the news of 03 Greedo getting locked up a few years back, it was still a devastating blow to the music community. Nonetheless, Greedo was as hard-working as a musician can get, so that has left behind copious amounts of music to be released during his lengthy stint in prison, and fans are not going to soon forget the iconic West Coast innovator.
A bit of time has passed since we last heard from Greedo and his team, but that silence has finally come to an end thanks to the release of his latest track “Pourin” featuring one of the most compelling duos on the same coast known as BlueBucksClan. Mike Free produced this track, putting his own spin on the classic Mike Jones banger “Flossin”, and that couldn’t have set any of these talents up any better whatsoever.
As Greedo sings, the layers of vocals provide an echo that just resounds in your head before he diversifies his flows even more as he moves on throughout the record. DJ and Jeeezy of BlueBucksClan then come in to trade off some bars full of swagger and relaxation, allowing for their easygoing and laidback lines to roll off of their tongues effortlessly. Not a week goes by where I don’t bump some 03 Greedo, and getting a song like this to add to my list is always a welcome addition, making “Pourin” an instant West Coast classic that you need to put on your radar immediately.
