Pollari – ‘No Love Here’

Dealing with love lost and found, Lyrical Lemonade veteran Pollari triumphantly returned with his new album, No Love Here, this past weekend (Aug. 18).

The Atlanta rapper, known for past projects like Never Sorry 2, Yours Truly and Heaven Only Knows, not only intertwines soft-crooned melodies with brash, diverse flows, but emits a sense of personality inescapable from the underground’s current landscape. A legend in his own right, Pollari is a beacon of diversity in rap — recognized for early, prolific hits like “Battlescars” with fellow Lyrical GOAT Lil Skies, “Diamonds” and “Fantasy” with Lil Peep.

No Love Here once more underscores his growth as an artist. At 16 tracks, spanning a short-but-sweet 34 minutes, Pollari teeters between touching melodies and the vibrant auto-laced sound he initially made his name with. With an attentiveness to versatile sounds, tracks like “On My Mind,” “Patience!” and “2AM in London” all exude a different side to Pollari, with the latter leaning into his affinity for slow-moving grooves made for the lull of a late-night drive. Other personal favorites like “Waste My Time” and “No Love!” possess a niche flair for the eccentric, as Pollari raps over California-twanged guitars, unique bounces and Bryson Tiller-esque reversed melodies with ease.

Just months removed from sharing Forever, Yours (a 7-track collection of career classics), Pollari continues to blur the lines between R&B and rap — positioning himself as an oft-godfather of pluggnb considering his previous work with BEAR1BOSS and Tony Shhnow. While he’s not the fresh face he once was, Pollari’s adaptability and longevity gets further from being questioned on No Love Here.
