“Who has been your favorite artist to write about?”… A difficult question for some writers, but an easy one for me. Throughout my time at Lyrical Lemonade, I’ve had the pleasure of highlighting talented individuals, but none quite as talented as the artist making it onto our pages again. I’ve written about him before, but each time feels like the first time, due to sheer excitement and joy.
If you’ve heard emawk’s music before, then you know why he is deserving of every kind word and positive affirmation. I wish there were enough words in the dictionary to encapsulate what makes him so special as an artist, but I fear that’s a feat that can never be accomplished when it comes to this generational talent. Every time emawk drops music, it’s a treat and today there’s no greater blessing than being able to highlight his art.
The last time we saw emawk was for the release of his latest song “tea” that dropped back in December of 2019. Just like “PILOT”, “tea” was a triumph that has pushed the limits of emawk’s artistic potential. He keeps growing as time goes on and this latest offering is just evidence for that fact. Poetry in motion is the closest thing I can equate “PILOT” to. In most songs, it’s easy to be enamored by one stylistic aspect over the other, but when it comes to emawk, each and every part works together for the greater good of the song. Without one inclusion, there wouldn’t be the other; something that emawk understands and translates into his meticulous approach.
What we are witnessing is life-giving music; The ballads that unite lovers and reconcile communities lay within the beautiful verses and melodies presented to us by emawk. “PILOT” is out everywhere. I’ve attached the Spotify link down below, so give it a listen and let us know what you think.
