PALM ANGELS – [Kid Trash]

It may sound redundant to bring this up every single time this artist is brought to the spotlight, but experience and longevity truly elevate Kid Trash to untouchable levels compared to their contemporaries. Their masterful work as a purveyor of modern pop music has featured constant evolutions in their own artistry as their work continues to inspire and influence thousands of others; not many acts can lay claim to a description such as that.

This work has not only culminated in that aforementioned unreachable status that they hold, but it has also done wonders for their own music leading up to this point. The essence of always evolving and perfecting one’s craft has led to what can now be touted as perhaps their best work coming yet leading into the new year — a notion exemplified by their latest single “PALM ANGELS.”

Kid Trash has always been influenced by such Internet-based musical approaches such as EDM and adjacent genres, but with this new single here, it sees them fully leaning into these inspirations for an entirely new approach to be birthed as a result. This track essentially takes the roots of what late-2000s EDM had planted and combines them with all of the modern pop sensibilities that had defined their work up to this point.

That sentiment begins and ends with the outstanding instrumental work that Kid Trash brought with this track from the outset. The beat is a blistering and glistening EDM cut that would easily be an all-too-entertaining listen on its own, but it becomes that much more the case when examining the incredible vocal work done by them after the fact.

These vocal aspects see Kid Trash doing what they always do best in this lane: creating infectious hooks and memorable lyrics that are too rich and appealing by themselves to ever ignore. The ways in which these pop approaches clash with the far more dance-based ones found with the instrumental here is absolutely mesmerizing and completely impressive.

With this being the first single off of their upcoming album, the anticipation for what a full-length project could look like with this approach attached is unfathomably high. Kid Trash has truly outdone themselves to this point, and the future certainly holds some even more incredible work to behold as we continue to move towards that point.
