Though this is the first time gracing the pages of Lyrical Lemonade, Junia-T has been a constant in the talent-loaded scene in Toronto. In addition to supplying boardwalk to some of the North’s most talented artists, you may even be able to catch him on stage DJing for the buzzing Jessie Reyez. Every once and a while, though, he’ll drop off some heat of his own, usually putting me on to another talented artist in the process; game recognize game, I suppose.
That’s the case with his latest release “Ooowee,” which features the soulful vocals Chatanooga crooner Elijah Dax. Dax certainly shines–his voice really grabs you– but, such is the case with any successful, producer-lead track, Junia makes his presence felt with an absolutely stellar composition. From the drums, the string-work and booming base, every sound is so crisp and sharp, while still maintaining that sultry, late-night feel. Junia even sneaks in a biggie flip for good measure; a testament to his ability to seamlessly weave every aspect of the track together.
No word on a larger project from Junia, but always staying busy in the T-Dot (and beyond), Definitely keep an ear out for his work.
