One Time – [Icewear Vezzo] & [Jeezy]

It goes without saying, but I think over the past few years, Icewear Vezzo has made all the right moves and has solidified his spot as one of the best emcees in the rap industry. As it stands, he has worked with some of the world’s most well-known artists, but these aren’t even the songs I personally bump on a daily basis. Instead, I vibe with his solo tracks, the ones where he really lets himself loose and just spits, because those are his playground and I feel like he truly shines brighter than ever as he is able to demonstrate everything he can bring to the table.

Unsurprisingly, he is gearing up for another project to drop in just a few days on December 8th, but the surprise here is that it’s a Gangsta Grillz mixtape hosted by DJ Drama. I mean, it’s not a surprise that these two legendary entities are teaming up, but I just didn’t expect it after his already monumental year. To add even more fuel to what is sure to be a fire tape, he released a single with none other than Jeezy, one of Atlanta’s most iconic rap figures of this century, and it should be cited in the dictionary next to the definition of the word banger.

“One Time” is produced by Antt Beatz who gives us a typical yet always enthralling foundation that we know Vezzo will destroy, and he follows suit by bringing the house down with an ear-catching hook and an even more impressive verse. Considering Jeezy is a veteran in the hip-hop world, it’s no shocker that he annihilates his verse, either, but it’s just so incredible to see him hop on a more new-school instrumental and tear it to shreds the way he does.

Their all-encompassing power is even further displayed in the Diesel Filmz-directed music video, so it’s surely not something you’re going to want to sleep on for much longer. Jeezy not only proves that he’ll never lose his lyrical gifts, but Vezzo also continues to boast his dominant nature on “One Time”, so Vezzo and DJ Drama’s Paint the City mixtape couldn’t come any sooner, and my calendar is indeed marked for December 8th because I don’t want to miss a second of the predictably astounding project.
