OH WOAH – [WRKINSILENCE]

I categorize myself as a pretty various music listener when it comes to genres, and I actually tend to take some heat for it from a lot of my peers. But as a writer I find it exponentially helpful because it keeps my mind open to any sort of music that might be thrown at me. The song I came across yesterday was one I didn’t even know how to categorize, and all I knew was how much I instantly loved it. “OH WOAH” is a wavy, high-pitched masterpiece that caught my attention first with the peculiar cover art, which contains the artist with some sort of indistinguishable mask, making the work even more enticing. Then I clicked play, and the first thing I heard was a dreamy melodic voice in which I thought was a sample from some other piece, but actually turned out to be the artist – WRKINSILENCE’s voice.

“OH WOAH” is less than two minutes long, but in that short time he turned me into a listener. His falsetto provides a mysterious tone that catches you early and resides throughout the piece’s entirety. WRKINSILENCE preaches of being better off by himself, and reaching success without help. “Quit blowin’ up my phone, I’ve been up on my own,” reflects the individuality and uniqueness of both the song and the artist.

Collectively, I wish the song was longer because of how quickly and effectively WRKINSILENCE was able to draw me in. However his library doesn’t just stop there, with several other tracks to dive and submerge into.
