Making his debut in the Lyrical Lemonade pages today is San Antionio, Texas MC Mike Dimes who unloads his honest and heavy but nonetheless boastful lyrics over a raucous instrumental on his new track “No Trends” where he establishes himself as particularly contrarian, at least when compared the masses of other artists whose objectives are more hedonist or short-sighted. Dimes is clearly wise beyond his years and his music has a certain maturity to it that manages to be a constant but never detract from the actual entertainment value of the song, which is quite a rare thing these days. I am looking forward to hearing a full project from him soon and am eager to see what other producers and production styles he takes on next.
