It might not be new to some of the people who regularly tap in with my articles, but I am a big fan of artists who prove their dominance in more industries than just music, and Lil Gnar is someone who has proven himself as a businessman, an athlete, and a talented emcee. He began as a skater and that is a part of him that will never fade, then he created his clothing brand Gnarcotic which has some amazing pieces and insane co-signs, and when he got into music, it was obvious that he can do no wrong regardless of whatever endeavor he undertakes.
I think that he is one of the more underrated emcees in the entire rap world, and considering he was born and raised in Atlanta, I think the city has rubbed off on him way more than enough to hold his own with some of the greats of our generation. I will never miss an opportunity to check out new music from the skilled spitter, so when I saw that he teamed up with Tory Lanez for their Bouncegohard-produced song “No Switches” and then reconvened for another immensely entertaining Sam McGrath-directed music video, you already know I wasn’t going to miss out.
The song itself is an absolute banger, but the video begins in the hills at an extremely luxurious mansion that Gnar hangs out at, enjoying the weather poolside as he overlooks the bright blue ocean in the distance. When it comes time for Tory’s verse, nighttime has come as hints of red ooze from every possible source, giving a nice, dark half to juxtapose the bright, vibrant beginning of the mini-movie.
With a mixture of incredible animations and a split of cinematic shots and lo-fi camerawork, this video seriously came out even better than I had originally hoped. Lil Gnar simply doesn’t miss, and when he teams up with Sam McGrath for music videos, they’re never anything less than magical, which is why you need to watch the visual for Gnar and Tory Lanez’s brand-new song “No Switches” ASAP.
