The incredibly talented DMV trio, Lo Village, return with their new laidback-bounce single, “NERD.” No strangers to the site, Lo Village has continuously shown it is easily one of the strongest up-and-coming artists not only in Hip-Hop but to some degree R&B as well. Their melodic orchestration of sound, which finds its center between neo-soul and abstract Hip Hop, is a vivid and subliminal concoction if there ever was one.
Lo Village’s newly released record opens with a gentle sentiment – melodic harmonies from the group’s premiere vocalist, Ama effectively creates a dream-like setting. A brief crescendo finds the song in full-swing, featuring booming bass, West Coast-inspired production, soaring harmonies and the left-of-center lyrical stylings of members; Charles Tyler and Kane. If their exhibition of lyrical gymnastics wasn’t enough, a rare verse from Ama acts as a closing exclamation point to the head-bobbing affair. To no surprise, Lo Village’s new single, “NERD,” checks-off all the boxes and stands as another towering example of this group’s ability and promise.
