Miami born artist Blue November has grown to be one of my favorite underground rappers. Whether the listener is looking for trap, boom-bap, a touch of soul, or even an experimental offering – Blue November’s body of work is sure enough to impress be it one song or another. Recently, his collaborative effort “No Hard Feelings” with Elaquent reached 1,000,000+ streams on Spotify. I first discovered November thanks to his excellent album Stuck in The Swamp (2019), which caught my attention thanks to the phenomenal artwork crafted by John Singletary. “Swamp,” which is the first song off the album, remains one of my favorite songs because it sounds nothing like a traditional trap record. If you’re an attentive listener that notices subtle, but seamless transitions, then you’ll absolutely love this album for its connectivity alone. Comparatively, there’s honestly no other artist that comes to my mind when assessing Blue November, which makes me appreciate his unique style even more. November’s latest single “Mystic” remains on brand in terms of remaining true to himself as opposed to molding an existing identity. Along with the rest of his collection of bangers, the track is heavy on bass with November’s signature flow exchanging between rapid and surgical. Stream the release below!
