The Melvina EP is simply a must-listen. Jhon MyQuale has been making a few moves around the city as of late. He was featured at Iridium’s open mic showcase and regularly frequents the city’s open mic scene in general. He also released a thought-provoking short film via youtube towards the end of summer, showing off his acting skills as well. Melvina seems to be an ode to Jhon’s favorite hip hop tracks. Usually, when an artist submits a track rapping over an industry beat I overlook it instantly because I think hip hop is relatively pass that era. Yet, Jhon added his personal flavor to each track chosen. It was also tough to find a weak bar. Melvina features production taken from Kendrick, Common, Erykah Badu, and so much more. The project is soulful, thoughtful, and fun all in one. Give it a listen below.
