At least in recent memory, few projects can boast the identity of a “lifestyle piece” more than J.R. Cruise’s Seeds. Presenting a slice of life on the West Coast, the album documents Cruise’s day-to-day with anthems for every occasion, and as a whole, it plays out like a movie, made to throw on repeat as you drive around the neighborhood under the summer sun. Revisiting the project, Cruise is here to take over headlines with a brand new video for one of my personal favorite cuts off of Seeds, “Mary Kate.”
Packaged with a refreshing instrumental, this West Coast soundtrack perfectly encapsulates the breezy energy of the summer. Cruise’s enthralling character is on full display all throughout, and when bringing this theme to the big screen, he’s sure to turn the “two twins like Mary Kate” into a reality, driving around with, quite literally, two twins by his side.
That said, from the track itself to the subsequent visuals, “Mary Kate” captures a time, place, and feeling better than most songs out this year, and for this reason and more, it’s a must-listen for all of our readers out there.
