Making his solo artist debut along with his first appearance on Lyrical Lemonade, emerging singer/songwriter Stefan Mahendra is certain to be on your radar sooner or later. Half Sri Lankan/Half German, the South East London bred musician fits the label of an R&B artist, but the depth of his vocal range broadens his music capabilities. With notable influences such as Marvin Gaye, D’angelo, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, & John Legend, I’d go even further to suggest he and Tom Misch share a similar creative excellence. Resume wise, Stefan has toured/opened up for the likes of Sting, Shaggy, Melanie C and many more. His debut television appearance was made in 2019, when he became a quarter finalist of ’The Voice UK’. Following his time on the show, Stefan and his band ‘BrownSugar’ went on to support Olly Murs at the O2 Arena London. On November 17th, Mahendra rightfully introduced himself globally with the release of his first single titled “Lovin’ You is Easy” via Nurtured Ideas.
Due to the warm instrumentation containing soul & jazz tones, the heartfelt song is an honest love record that uniquely checks the boxes of both a vintage and modern offering. Every lyric from Stefan Mahendra is carefully sung which emits emphasis on the delicacy of his feelings expressed; sincerity is a trait desired by any singer and Mahendra makes it seem effortless.
