Long Live – [THURZ]

Inglewood native, THURZ, returns to our pages today with his newest single, “Long Live.” The new record focuses on giving folks their flowers while they are still here, and for added background, the Jake One-produced single is the rapper’s latest offering since his recent return from hiatus.

THURZ wastes no time with this one, coming out of the gate speaking directly to the listener about the subject matter of the song: remembrance. A vintage loop sets a complimentary tone to the song’s posthumous subject matter which when added creates a piece of sonic bliss. THURZ uses the record to tighten his grip on the living, cherishing their presence and potential. Utilizing the entire four minutes, THURZ dives into the lethal vices we surround ourselves with as well as credits the influential people who have helped shape his life. THURZ describes the song’s construction, saying,

The track is an ode to all the family members and friends that have helped shaped my perspective as a man and human being. Their teachings along with life experiences create the necessity for “realness” to be cherished forever. Jake One provided the perfect soundscape to reflect on all that has inspired me. Honor those you love, while they’re here.

This is THURZ’s first single since releasing “777-9311” in early March, his first record in two years after connecting with the legendary Dr. Dre. Check out THURZ’s latest single below and make sure to show him support by following him on Twitter and Instagram.
