I have basically watched Smrtdeath blow up in front of my eyes in 2017, so I knew that I had to include him in our latest Q&A segment. Smrtdeath is extremely unique, he is unlike any other artist that you have heard and he offers a soothing & ear pleasing sound that many are starting to catch onto. I predict that he will become a star in the years to come, but until we reach that point you might as well get to know him by learning a thing or two about him below!

EM: Before we dive into the questions, give our readers who may not be familiar with you a brief introduction of yourself.
SD: hi my name is smrtdeath but my friends call me sethany. i’m a vocalist from canada making pop punk music but with sick beats instead of a band.

EM: Where are you from?
SD: winnipeg, canada. every1 thinks i’m from la or toronto but i’m not im from this frozen shithole

EM: What is your earliest memory of music?
SD: ion remember this specifically but my mom told me since i was little i would always make her play any song i liked over and over until i knew all the words. which was sometimes like, christmas carols, but also like thriller haha

EM: When did you first start creating music?
SD: i used to play instruments as a kid, drums & guitar, & play in shitty bands with my friends just like fucking around. i started writing like shitty little songs on guitar around then too, probably when i was like 15 or something but i never really fucked around with recording stuff or doing shit over beats til later. actually once me and my friends recorded like 5 songs on a tape recorder set in the middle of a room hahah. it sounded so bad, when the drums were too loud the whole thing would just cut out completely.

EM: Who/what inspired you to start creating music?
SD: prolly just like always loving music & wanting to listen to it all the time. i was like dam i wanna make some too. my cousin played drums n i was like yo that’s sick i wanna learn. then i was like yo kurt cobain is so sick lemme try guitar and singing. omg i love ja rule i wanna be a rapper. music made me wanna make music i guess.

SD: the distillers, ja rule, murphy lee, good charlotte, kurt cobain, sum 41, nelly, lil wayne

SD: i’m not 100% the *first* shit i ever got, but two albums i remember having early on are sum 41 – all killer no filler & n.e.r.d. – in search of.

SD: i been listening to lil lotus, lil aaron, lil bo weep, corbin, antwon, lil soda boi, drippin so pretty, audioopera, saphir, tracy, coldy, horse head, wicca phase, hella other ppl i’m forgetting off top. i also listen to like hella young thug & future & then like old shit.

SD: make music that u wanna hear is cliche but true!!

SD: i got a bunch of projects in the works with some of my fav producers. me lil lotus & lil aaron started an emo boyband called boyfriendz, def be on the lookout for a bunch of stuff from that! also definitely hella vids, & look out for tour dates sooner than later. overall i’m just gonna keep tryin to make as much good shit as possible.
