We were lucky enough to get the chance to ask Oogie a few questions; learn all about the young producer below!
JM: Before diving into questions tell our readers who you are.
OM: I’m OOGIE MANE from WOD, “working on dying,” if you haven’t heard do your research.
–
JM: How did you get the name Oogie Mane?
OM: Watching one of my favorite movies of all time, ” Nightmares before christmas.” I was just watching it and realized how hard oogie boogie man started and I just threw my own lil twist and everybody fucked with it.
–
JM: What made you want to start producing?
OM: F1lhty is actually one of the main reasons I started producing, because he’s my older blood brother and I just thought to try it out and I just thought it was fun.
–
JM: What was the first Oogie Mane produced song ever?
OM: The first OOGIE MANE produced Song ever was with “The loosie man” when he used to rap and go by another alias.
–
JM: Who was the first big person you produced for and how did that feel?
OM: Xavier Wulf- Alpha k9 is my first big step into the underground. It felt amazing seeing an artist I listen to daily on a beat I made. I was only like 16 at the time.
–
JM: Who is “Working on Dying?” How did you guys come together?
OM: Working on Dying is a music group with me and all my brothers. We are all from the same city and most of us knew each other before music even came about. The group contains me, Forza, F1LHTY, BRANDONFINESSIN, lil zubin, Matt ox, DIZZY Santana, Goose-Tech, The loosie man, and thtchnwht.
–
JM: What’s the music scene like in Philly?
OM: The scene over here in Philly is slowly evolving. Working on Dying really has its own lane in the Philly underground scene. I usually dj a lot of shows with 5 Finger Posse, and we throw our own events whenever we feel the city needs it.
–
JM: What’s your favorite song you’ve produced?
OM: I produced too many songs to pick one exclusively so I’m a name a couple of my favorites right now. Chxpo – BVNDGXD, Matt ox – Overwhelming, Sub9k – Glo Man, and lil tracy – Keke Palmer co-produced with The loosie man.
–
JM: What’s next for you?
OM: Next thing for me is a show in LA on the 17th with my little bro Matt Ox. We dropping heat all summer keep your eyes peeled.
–
JM: Any final words of wisdom for our readers?
OM: A message to all the upcoming producers is find your own style and stay true, because that’s what I always been doing. And thank you to all the fans and blogs and everyone that’s been reaching out to me. I look at everything as a blessing that I worked hard for. And a big shout out to Jake from Lyrical Lemonade for plugging me up with a interview.
