You’ve probably heard the name CashMoneyAP due to his Platinum-tier production for the likes of Desiigner, Ski Mask The Slump God and most recently on Dave East’s debut studio-project “Paranoia,” but who really is the man behind the bass-slapping beats? I got the opportunity to ask the Cash God a variety of questions on his inspiration behind the beats and starting out in the industry, and believe me when I say you won’t find this information anywhere else on the web. J: First off, could you give our readers a quick introduction of yourself and where you’re currently based out of?
AP: What’s up, so I’m CashMoneyAp, I’m a 22-year-old producer from France and I’m currently based out of Los Angeles.

J: When did you first start producing and what/who inspired you to do so?
AP: I started making beats when I was 15 years old that is to say 7 years ago. If I’m right I started in June 2010 lol. The funny thing is that it’s my cousin ( Batgangbeats shout out to him ) who showed me FL Studio which is the DAW that I’m currently using. I’ve always been inspired by American music even if I was living in France. American hip hop is so different from French music and that’s why I liked it. Lex Luger really inspired me as a beginner. He is a legend! I always liked songs with harmonic melodies. That’s why when I started I used to do pop etc. At first, it was just for fun because you know I couldn’t think that I’d be where I’m at right now.

J: Could you briefly explain the procedure behind your beat-making? And what’s the longest you’ve ever worked on a beat?
AP: I usually start with the melodies, I always try to make my beats the more catchy as possible. That’s why I think I have my own sound. Oh and I also got a hard ass kick hahah. What’s the longest I’ve ever worked on a beat? Hmm, I’d say 2h-2h30. I like to have everything fitting perfectly on a beat that’s why I will always try to find something that doesn’t sound right. I know a lot of producers can relate to that problem lol.

J: You’ve produced a number of hits for big industry names like Desiigner, can you speak on that relationship and the first time you guys got in contact?
AP: That’s funny because Desiigner was following me way before Panda so it was easy to get in contact with him. Plus, me and Desiigner got the same manager Steven Victor, shout out to him by the way! Desiigner is really unique and got the kind of energy that will make you keep going in the studio even after 12h of studio.

J: Is there a beat or production credit out there that you’re most proud of? If so, why?
AP: I don’t really have any favorite production credit to be honest but if I had to choose I’d say “Desiigner – Up”. I’d say this song because I like how Desiigner killed it and his voice brought a harmonic sound to the beat. You know I’m french so I don’t really have all the words to describe how I feel.

J: What advice would you give to aspiring producer’s looking to make it in the industry?
AP: Work hard every day, be patient and stay consistent. Getting placements doesn’t happen overnight. Also, use all the social medias and also Youtube to get more recognition. The music industry is changing, and upcoming rappers would rather go on youtube to find what they need instead of hit industry producers up.

J: Lastly, where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
AP: Living in a mansion, 5 luxury cars and so much money that I won’t need to worry about the next day lol but more seriously I wanna be able to keep doing what I’m doing right now that is to say do what I love for a living: making music.
