LIMINAL – [Rari Kari]

I’m so glad that we are at the point in time where every artist seems to be respected on an even playing field, and things like gender, location, and already-formed connections don’t seem to weigh nearly as heavily as they once did. While this openness has led me to discover countless prominent rising talents, Rari Kari is surely one of the most captivating, and she is someone that you certainly need to keep on your radar, especially after her brand-new album LIMINAL released just a few days ago.

With 10 songs lasting right around 20 minutes long, Rari hones in on a singular aesthetic that she pursues throughout the entire effort. With instrumentals courtesy of Rari’s boyfriend Baaaly, the emcee is able to let the ambient vibe of each song linger in your mind, causing you to really think long and hard about various intangible aspects of the world and even life itself.

Rari’s vocals are angelic, as if you’re having an out-of-body experience while listening, and even on the cuts that are a bit rowdier and energized, her solemn, pure lyrics just glide on top of each beat carefully picked out for the project. There is this hauntingly beautiful aesthetic to each note she sings, breaking barriers that allow each and every listener to form an entirely different takeaway even after listening to the exact same track.

LIMINAL is a game-changer for the underground musician, and it proves that she is undoubtedly one of the most unique artists that has emerged in recent years. Her music is a refreshing departure from the mainstream, with an emphasis on authenticity and emotional profundity. The album itself perfectly captures the essence of her inimitable sound, and it’s a must-listen for anyone who appreciates original and boundary-pushing music. As Rari Kari continues to ascend in the underground scene, I surely can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
