A Message from the Lighthouse – [Artie Do Good]

If you’re not already familiar with Artie Do Good’s music, the Chicago-based producer and jazz musician’s latest EP, ‘A Message from the Lighthouse’, offers a quintessential introduction. Marked by lush production, memorable melodies, and jazz-influenced hip-hop, Artie takes inspiration from the stories of actual lighthouse keepers and crafts a soundtrack to pay homage.

Artie keeps the project sonically consistent, filling it with sweeping synths and crisp production spread across six tracks. On “Dancing on the Parapet”, he creates an enamoring instrumental escalated by a roaring trombone melody that you can’t help but hum along to. He then switches things up further on “Gophast”, experimenting with vocal manipulation alongside artists Ehiorobo and Pink Navel. Isolating, yet full of warmth in its live instrumentation and shimmering textures, ‘Lighthouse’ no doubt succeeds at conveying the mystical energy that its title suggests. Listen below:
