It’s been some time since we’ve heard from Canadian R&B signer Khabbazi, she has been largely quiet this year in terms of releases but she has broken the silence to drop one of her strongest tracks to date. Last week, she released a new single title “Let Me Know” that highlights her best qualities as an artist. As I mentioned in an article last week, Canadian artists are particularly great at crafting dark and spacey R&B cuts that pair perfectly with the gloom our entire country faces from about November to February due to the unforgiving cold. This smooth, laidback song includes those futuristic elements in the R&B that creates something that’s nostalgic yet new altogether.
The production on this song was provided by Vancouver veteran Dan Ostro, who helps encapsulate Khabbazi’s ability to make music that takes over your whole environment. Whether you listen to this on headphones or speakers, Khabbazi’s sound is that kind of R&B that whatever you’re doing while you listen you inevitably wind up bobbing your head along to the beat. The contents of the song are easy to connect with, communications with a loved one that has become soured over time. With more time together testing many relationships out there, this song is sure to soundtrack some of your post-relationship sadness.
You may not have ever listened to Khabbazi prior to reading this, but I can promise you that her latest release “Let Me Know” is a perfect introduction to her sound. We may not have gotten much music from her in 2020, but let’s hope we see more music from her in the near future!
