In life, it’s extremely evident that we value things that last. There is nothing enjoyable about short lived experiences or temporary occurrences. I believe the same goes for music as well. One hit wonders are great in the moment, but there is nothing more special than talent that stands the test of time; The talent that you know will be around for a long time. Today on the pages of Lyrical Lemonade, nothing brings me more joy than being able to write about an artist who will undoubtedly be talked about for a very long time.
If you are unfamiliar with Stephen Sanchez, let today be the last time you’re able to say that. The 17-year-old rising senior from El Dorado, California has been gaining immense notoriety for his popular videos on Tik-Tok. Just a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon his page and it was at that moment when I knew this young artist was much more than a social media personality, but rather, a true star in the making. After posting an original song on tik-tok that received over 1 million views alone, Stephen decided to kick off his musical journey by officially releasing the highly coveted song to streaming platforms.
The track, titled “Lady by the Sea” is the perfect introduction to the promising talent that is Stephen Sanchez. Acoustically driven, the song allows listeners to get a taste for the 17-year-olds’ dynamic vocal talents and innate songwriting ability. The 3 minute offering is a romantically fueled ballad that doesn’t let up from start to finish. Stephen’s vocals float right on top of every guitar strum which creates an utterly mesmerizing ambience. There are certain things you can’t teach when it comes to music and Stephen is a prime example of a pure natural. His voice is just unbelievable. He was born to do this and it’s undeniable that we’re watching the beginning of something really special.
