la fleur – [juno]

I had first found out about the rising hyperpop star juno a handful of months back thanks to his work with Overcast, and while this wasn’t the first time that the media production company had introduced me to someone new and exciting, it just felt different. It just seemed like juno had this unexplainable quality within himself and his music that kept me coming back to every new release, and I have made this a ritual every time he dropped something new.

Since then, he has worked with Overcast a few more times to bring wonderful visuals to life, and these have become miniature movies that I simply will never ignore no matter how busy I am or how old I get. I had heard the hype over the past few days about juno teaming up with Daniel Jordan K once again to shoot a music video for a hallow and dltzk-produced song entitled “la fleur” and considering that just released a couple of hours ago, I wanted to be one of the first people to write about it.

The song is flawless, unsurprisingly, and what I always appreciate about juno’s music is the fact that he differentiates himself from other hyperpop talents because he typically leaves his vocals relatively unaffected, letting his natural aptitudes speak for themselves while the instrumentals he uses care on the energetic torch that this subgenre is known for.

In the video, the main theme that continuously pops up throughout is a plethora of flowers. Whether they’re popping up around him, floating in the air, decorating the ground next to him, or even showing up on his tie, there are hardly any shots where a flower is absent, and I think this provides a super appealing vibrancy to each and every scene.

There is also a variety of dark, rainy shots that provide an amazing diversity to the spectrum of recordings, showing the opposite ends of the spectrum of love that pair wonderfully with the narrative within the song. With that being said, considering both juno and Overcast always seem to release gems, the “la fleur” music video is definitely not something you’re going to want to pass up, so tap in as soon as you find some time!
