As I was sifting through new music this weekend, I stumbled upon a new track by Chicago artist KiddxSurge, who just released a new single titled “Knock Knock” at midnight (January 15).
Surge, who’s made some noise in the local scene with singles like “No Jumper” and “Reloaded,” is gaining traction after his latest project King and Surge, in which he paired up with KiNg EmErY for its release on Christmas.
This track is a bass-heavy, rhythmic banger that utilizes Surge’s low tones and aggression to emphasize heavy lyrics of ducking police, smoking good gas, and times of struggle that he continues to try and avoid.
“I feel like I’m Rick Ross n***a with a six pack, big boss status n***a send over the dispatch, I been starting waves, ducking dodging mishaps.”
It’s a pleasure being introduced to and following Chicago artists’ careers, and I’m excited to see how KiddxSurge’s pans out as this track and others in his library continue to gain momentum.
