You might remember a couple of months ago when I interviewed Ajani Jones here at the LL office, he was an early interviewee on a series that eventually got rebranded into “The Lemonade Stand“. During that interview with Ajani Jones, we spoke about several subjects, but one of the main topics of conversation was his upcoming EP that was named after his mother, Kenya. Today, we finally received the body of work from the young Chicago native, and it is nothing short of spectacular. It’s a pretty quick listen coming in at five songs that average about three minutes apiece, but you can tell that Ajani put his heart + soul into this project just from the opening intro song “1994”, which ended up being my favorite included on this tape. I am very proud of Ajani and how far he has come in his musical journey, and although I know this is just a precursor to an eventual full-length tape, it’s more than enough to hold me over for the time being. You can stream this brand new EP below and if you enjoy it then go ahead + follow Ajani on Instagram here!
