Karen’s Song – [Joseph Chilliams] ft. [Sen Morimoto] & [KAINA]

Pivot Gang affiliate and Chicago artist Joseph Chilliams has been teasing his forthcoming EP, “The Plastics”, for a minute now, and he has just announced the project will be dropping June 19th. Along with the announcement comes a new single and music video from Chilliams titled “Karen’s Song”.

The same knack for ambient, laidback vibes that fueled 2017’s “Henry Church” project also echoes on this track, as Chilliams quickly finds his zen. He navigates the track through graceful melodies and flows that recount the feeling of daydreaming about someone back in high school. Two of the city’s most promising musicians and frequent collaborators Sen Morimoto and KAINA lend their skills to the track as well, turning the already dreamy track into a full-blown lullaby. In line with the EP’s title, “Karen’s Song” is full of samples and references to Mean Girls—a finishing touch that works together all too well. The accompanying video directed by Zoe Rain sets Chilliams in a fantasy rainforest, an apt visual to go with the daydream Chilliams depicts in his verses. Peep the new video for Joseph Chilliams’ “Karen’s Song” now, and stay tuned for “The Plastics” EP this week.
