Jumpouts – [Lil Xelly] & [Sparkheem]

No matter how long you’ve been reading my articles, there are a handful of names that pop up pretty regularly because I am just such a fan and believe in the music that these emcees are creating. Lil Xelly is one of these artists, despite my lack of coverage regarding his music in recent months. I’m not one to make excuses but I’m not sure if social media algorithms are just not showing me his posts or if I’ve just been so swamped that I’ve been overlooking them, but I haven’t been keeping up with the constant work that he has been putting in all summer long.

Once again, this is totally on me, but on the bright side, a single music video that he dropped a couple of weeks ago came across my screen and helped me realize that I’ve missed quite a lot of releases from him over the past few months. Not that this is the positive I’m taking away from the oversight, but the plus for me is the fact that I have so much new music to catch up on from the Maryland-born spitter, so I am certainly amped up about this influx of music that I can now enjoy for the first time.

One of the things I missed was a collaborative project with Sparkheem titled Xxxrtified 3 that features 20 songs lasting around 45 minutes long, so I can’t wait to dive in and catch up. Although it dropped halfway through August, the duo just put out a music video for the project’s second track “Jumpouts” directed by HousePartii, so even with the fact that I’m late to the party by a couple of weeks, I definitely wanted to highlight this hit. The song shows Xelly at his best, rifling through bars seemingly without even stopping to breathe, but that’s something I’ve come to expect from the exuberant underground star.

In the video, Xelly rotates through a few different sceneries that are overtaken by effects, colors, and lens filters that are as robust and lively as he is himself. All in all, I am super eager to catch up on the drops that I missed out on originally, but knowing how hard-working Xelly has always been, he’ll have even more new music out by the time I’m up to speed, but you won’t hear me complaining about that!
